  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon butter.

  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Saute onion and garlic in hot oil until onion begins to soften, 5 to 7 minutes. Add bacon, bell pepper, and jalapeno peppers; cook and stir until bacon is browned, 7 to 10 minutes more.

Cook in the smoker for 30 minutes. Cover foil pan with aluminum foil and continue cooking for 2 to 3 hours. Remove aluminum foil cover and transfer beans to a preheated 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) oven for 10 minutes to brown the beans.
