  • 1 cup butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 8 ounces milk chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 recipe Milk Chocolate Ganache (see below)


  1. Let the butter and eggs stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, grease and flour a 10-inch fluted tube pan and set it aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.
  5. Gradually add the sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating on medium speed for about 5 minutes or until very light and fluffy.
  6. Beat in the vanilla.
  7. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating on low to medium speed for 1 minute after each addition and scraping the sides of the bowl frequently.
  8. Gradually add the flour mixture, beating on low speed just until combined.
  9. Stir in the finely chopped milk chocolate.
  10. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  11. Bake for 70 to 75 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  12. Cool the cake in the pan on a wire rack for 15 minutes, then remove it from the pan.
  13. Allow the cake to cool completely on the wire rack.
  14. Spoon the Milk Chocolate Ganache over the cooled cake.

Milk Chocolate Ganache


  • ⅓ cup whipping cream
  • 6 ounces chopped milk chocolate


  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the whipping cream just to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Remove from heat and add the chopped milk chocolate (do not stir).
  3. Let it stand for 5 minutes.
  4. Stir until smooth.
  5. Let the ganache cool for 15 minutes.
  6. Spoon the ganache over the cooled cake.
